“Blessed are those who have the love of an old dog.”
It’s Pet Week at I Heart Faces. This is our 13 year old yellow lab, Peacemaker’s Misty Autumn. Autumn…to us.
Autumn and I had a photoshoot during the last snowfall this year. I spent 20 minutes trying to get her to look at the camera but it never worked! There’s a sadness to this photo for me because my thought process was, “I’d better get some photos of Autumn, while we have the chance.” It breaks my heart to even type that. She’s really went downhill in the last several months. Her back legs won’t cooperate when she wants to walk. She’s starting to have accidents in the house and I know that mortifies her. I can’t even begin to figure out how to prepare the kids for Autumn’s inevitable passing. Why can’t our pets have a longer lifespan? =(
Head on over to to see other pet posts that probably aren’t as much of a downer as this one. Sorry.
I think the fact that she is not looking at the camera definitely gives it emotion. What a beautiful dog!
ReplyDeleteThat was one beautiful dog. I wish they could live forever!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this picture and the story. Lost my yellow lab 6 years ago and a beautiful pic of him still sits proudly on display. Took me this long to get another puppy but there will never be another Bo.
ReplyDeleteI love this. Such a beautiful, poignant image.
ReplyDeleteI had a gorgeous dog who lived for 15 years. She died 4 years ago and just two months ago, I felt I was ready to get another. While he is nothing like my beautiful Kiah, he is wonderful. And he has helped heal my heart.
She is really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo! We lost our lab 7 years ago to much the same thing. It was really hard, and I still miss him.
ReplyDelete*sniff sniff* I'm so sorry that Autumn is declining. She is beautiful and this shot is gorgeous. I wish our pets could live longer too. :(
ReplyDeleteShe looks old and wise. It caught my eye in the sea of all the photos. Lovely lovely image.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love a high key look!
ReplyDeleteI love my autumn bottom<3
ReplyDeleteReading this makes my heart hurt. I agree, why cant they live longer :(
ReplyDeleteBut she's absolutely beautiful, and this is a great picture!
I hope every day you have left with Autumn will be filled with wonderful memories...
